Named after the Bay of Fundy, the Bay Beanie pattern first came to life in the summer of 2017. It took me THREE years to overcome my fear of pattern designing to find testers and release it into the world.

(So sorry, guys. I know some of you waited a LONG time, haha!).

I tested a pattern for another designer that year which is where I learned the camel stitch. It immediately became my favourite and is what inspired the structure of the Bay Beanie! I just love mixing the puff stitch (which is quite exclusively crochet-looking) with the camel stitch (which is a serious dupe for knit!) and the contrasting texture it creates. It's the perfect hat to grab on your way out the door!

I had FANTASTIC testers that made this pattern release possible and they all contributed to making it such a positive experience.

Want to hear a funny story?

In September, Adam and I travelled to Maine for a family wedding (crossing borders during a pandemic, I know.. anywho) and while in the airport I saw a Facebook post that lit a fire under me and really pushed me to finally list the pattern on Etsy. So after three years of having the document on my computer, in an airport of all places, I connected to the janky wifi and released the Bay Beanie into the world. So much for pomp and circumstance, eh? Regardless of how/where it happened, I'm so glad I took the leap and finally hit "list!" If you'd like to check out the pattern, click this link to see it on Etsy.
