Our Island Wedding

Updated: Mar 1, 2021

One whole year! It has been 365 days since we tied the knot at high tide on Grand Manan Island. To celebrate, here is a gallery of our most cherished memories. We can't offer enough thanks to our parents, extended families, and guests who made our day so incredible. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as we do!

All photos were taken by Julie LeBlanc Photography (https://www.photographybyjulieleblanc.com/) and we absolutely love them!

One of our challenges was "Where do we put the groomsmen?!" Adam had recently moved into this rental house but sleeping space was limited and it certainly didn't have our "personal touch" yet. Besides Timothy's bed being about two feet too short, everyone managed to find a space and survive the week. Thanks bearing with us, guys!

These ladies did SO much to help with wedding prep. They took time off work, some came a week early, and all jumped in wherever needed! Choosing bridesmaids was actually much harder than I expected! Moving around so much, I didn't have those "we've been friends since third grade, of course I'll stand in your wedding!" kind of friendships. If you notice, each lady is from a different city or province! I'm so thankful our paths crossed and they were able to stand with me.

Not everyone gets to have their dad officiate their wedding, let alone have two officiants! It was very special having my dad and Paul officiate for us. My dad led us in communion while Timothy and Anna played and sang behind us, and Paul gave a great message for us and our guests!

Our arbour and signing table were made out of driftwood here on Grand Manan, and everyone's seats are wooden lobster crates! We really stuck to our island theme. #committment

Planning an island wedding proved to have many challenges (actually, so many challenges) one of which being where to hold the reception. The solution was a tent in the field! The ground was soft and uneven, restroom facilities required a short walk, and decorating couldn't be done until the last minute (HUGE THANKS to those who pitched in so many hours to decorate the tent. Claudia and Tyler, I'm looking at you).

It turned into a beautiful spot and served its purpose well. More important, though, were the people in the tent that shared our special day with us. Also, LOOK AT THAT CAKE. Kenda Wilcox blew us out of the water with that incredible cake. She needs some kind of award.

Another thing most people don't know is that my mom catered and organized all of the food herself! With the help of some friends and family, she pulled off a feast of the ages for both our main reception AND the evening dinner for overnight guests. Where are those awards at? She needs one, too!

What a day.

I can't thank enough the people who travelled far, decorated for hours, brought gifts, showered us with love, sent notes, cards, messages, and calls. We are so incredibly blessed to have the tribe that we do. They say it takes a village. You are our village.
